Trevor Bauer Joins Long Island Ducks, Returns to US from Japan, Mexico

Trevor Bauer Joins Long Island Ducks and is scheduled to start on opening night at the team’s home park in Central Islip on April 21. The 35-year-old former Cy Young winner has not pitched in MLB since 2021.

He said he is eager to compete again for U.S. fans. Bauer praised the Ducks’ history and said he welcomes the chance to join the club.

Recent seasons abroad

Bauer spent the past three years pitching in Japan and Mexico. The move marks his Returns to US from Japan and Mexico after that stretch abroad.

He appeared for Mexico’s Diablos Rojos in exhibition play against a Major League team in 2024. He also made starts in Japan during the 2023 season.

Suspension and legal background

Bauer was placed on administrative leave while with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2021. A woman accused him of violent conduct during a sexual encounter, a claim he has denied as consensual.

He never faced criminal charges. Major League Baseball initially suspended him for 324 games in April 2022 under its domestic violence policy.

After an appeal, MLB reduced the suspension to 194 games in December 2022.

Club reaction and opportunities

Ducks president Michael Pfaff said Bauer’s experience will benefit the club. He added the signing gives Bauer a stage to display his skills to MLB organizations.

The team also highlighted the chance for fans to see Bauer more closely in minor league-affiliated settings. Filmogaz.com will follow developments and cover his debut on April 21.
