Clements Coffee Shutters All Belfast Locations
Clements Coffee has announced it will close its remaining outlets on the Queen’s University Belfast campus. The company said all café operations run by Hope Investments (NI) Ltd at QUB will stop trading on Friday 15 May 2026.
Which sites will close
The closures affect four campus locations. They are Hope in the McClay Library, two cafés in the PEC and MBC, and a brunch and coffee spot in the Students’ Union.
Earlier in 2023, the chain closed three city-centre stores. Those were on Rosemary Street, Royal Avenue and Botanic Avenue.
Background and timeline
Clements first opened in Belfast in 1999. It grew into one of Northern Ireland’s largest independent coffee chains.
The company has served the QUB community for more than two decades. The firm described the decision as the result of months of consideration and efforts to find a sustainable way forward.
Company message
The social media statement thanked students, staff and visitors for years of patronage. It also expressed gratitude to staff for their hard work and commitment.
Cafés will continue trading normally until 15 May 2026. Customers were asked to redeem loyalty points and gift cards before that date.
Community role and reaction
Staff said their outlets provided morning coffees, lunchtime service and hospitality for functions. They described the cafés as part of daily campus life.
On social feeds, some posts used the phrase Clements Coffee Shutters All Belfast Locations to describe the news. Filmogaz.com will carry further updates as they become available.
