Classic FM mini-series

Tom Allen will present a three-part series titled Totally Outrageous with Tom Allen. It airs nightly from April 3 to April 5 at 9pm during Classic FM’s Hall of Fame weekend. The programme examines the dramatic side of classical music and the personalities involved.

It looks at opera stars, composers, eccentric figures and scandal. The show blends Allen’s comedy with high drama and theatrical anecdotes. Episodes will also stream on Global Player.

Capital XTRA Sunday slot

Lisa Maffia joins Capital XTRA as a weekly host. She will broadcast Sundays from noon to 4pm starting April 5, during the Fully Reloaded Easter weekend. Her show will focus on old skool hip hop and R&B from the 1990s and early 2000s.

Maffia first appeared on the station as part of a New Year’s Day takeover. She will now take a permanent role across Capital XTRA and its spin-off service.

Comments and context

Maffia called the appointment a full-circle moment and said she will bring energy and real connection. Matt Deverson described her as a true original and praised her cultural influence.

Classic FM managing editor Joseph Zubier said Allen would add warmth and a brilliant sense of fun. Allen described the series as a celebration of glamour, passion and people behaving appallingly.

Global unveiled both signings to strengthen its weekend programming. The Easter line-up will also include Craig David, Tinie Tempah and Lethal Bizzle.
