FIFA Launches Final World Cup Ticket Sales: Essential Details

FIFA Launches Final World Cup Ticket Sales: Essential Details

FIFA has launched the last-minute sales phase for 2026 World Cup tickets. Sales begin Wednesday, April 1 at 11 a.m. ET.

This marks the first time tickets will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis. The full 48-team field was confirmed after six playoff finals on Tuesday, March 31.

How to buy tickets

Fans can buy available seats at FIFA.com/tickets starting at 11 a.m. ET on April 1. For the first time, purchases will be immediate rather than lottery-based.

Buyers may now choose specific seats instead of only ticket categories. FIFA says tickets will be released on a rolling basis, so check often.

  • Category 1: Premium seats, mainly in the lower tier.
  • Category 2: Seats outside Category 1, in lower and upper tiers.
  • Category 3: Typically upper-tier seats outside Categories 1 and 2.
  • Category 4: Most affordable seats, positioned in the upper tier.

Fans who previously bought category tickets will now see exact seat locations. This applies starting with the last-minute sales phase.

Resale and exchange

Tickets will appear on several third-party resale platforms. FIFA encourages use of its authorized resale and exchange marketplace.

The FIFA resale marketplace opens Thursday, April 2. It allows fans to sell tickets securely and reduces the risk of invalid transfers.

Sales timeline and demand

Ticket sales began in September 2025 across multiple phases. The most recent phase ran from Dec. 11 to Jan. 13.

FIFA reported more than 500 million requests during that phase. Successful applicants were notified starting Feb. 5.

The last-minute phase is the only remaining sales period. It will run through the end of the tournament.

Tournament dates and host cities

The tournament kicks off on June 11 with Mexico vs. South Africa at Estadio Banorte in Mexico City. The final will be played on July 19 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

The 2026 World Cup will feature 48 teams and 104 matches. The United States will host 78 of those games.

  • Canada: Toronto, Vancouver
  • United States: Atlanta, Boston, Dallas, Houston, Kansas City, Los Angeles, Miami, New York/New Jersey, Philadelphia, San Francisco Bay Area, Seattle
  • Mexico: Guadalajara, Mexico City, Monterrey
