Cinecittà Profits Surge, Emerging as Premier Production Hub
Netflix has selected Cinecittà to shoot a series based on the Assassin’s Creed video game. A separate epic about Hannibal will star Denzel Washington and be directed by Antoine Fuqua.
Leadership and strategy
Manuela Cacciamani became managing director in July 2024. A detailed studio floor plan in her office underscores a wide transformation underway.
Investment and expansion
Public recovery funds have helped fuel the upgrade. Since Cacciamani’s arrival, more than €110 million has been invested, in addition to €89 million previously committed.
By June the studios will add 21,000 square metres for production. The campus will offer 25 studios and ten hectares of outdoor space.
Major productions and international draw
The Assassin’s Creed franchise has sold 230 million copies worldwide. High-profile projects like this and the Hannibal film boost Cinecittà’s global appeal.
Financial turnaround
Cinecittà closed the year with a €1.5 million profit before tax. This is the first profit reported since 2019, after adjusted budgets in 2022 and 2023.
Cinecittà Profits Surge, Emerging as Premier Production Hub, is reflected in these results. Sales turnover rose by €8.9 million compared to 2024.
EBITDA reached €14 million, up from €7 million the previous year. Revenues from the commercial area exceeded forecasts, rising above €30.4 million against a budgeted €25 million.
Cost management
Total costs fell by €10 million. More than €5 million of that reduction came from lower third-party service spending, internalising processes, and increased staff efficiency.
The studio’s targets were met and in several areas surpassed. Filmogaz.com will continue to monitor Cinecittà’s expansion and incoming international projects.
