Former UK Prime Minister Calls for Trump-Style Revolution to Combat Globalism in Europe
At the Conservative Political Action Conference, two former European leaders warned about mass migration and cultural change. They urged decisive action they called a “Trump-style revolution” to combat globalism in Europe.
Claims about institutions and social change
Former UK prime minister Liz Truss said an elite network has captured key institutions. She named universities, media, corporations, and parts of the bureaucracy.
Truss argued that open-border policies and diversity programs undermined social cohesion. She criticized British conservatives for not reversing diversity, equity, and inclusion measures.
She also raised the issue of serious criminal cases involving grooming and rape. Truss said authorities sometimes avoided action to escape accusations of racism.
Free speech and legal changes
Truss warned that public debate has become restricted in Britain. She said some people have faced legal consequences for speaking about immigration and related crimes.
She criticized moves to define “Islamophobia” in law. Truss argued such steps could limit discussion about terrorism and integration.
Poland’s border measures and the Belarus crisis
Former Polish prime minister Mateusz Morawiecki recalled the 2021 migrant standoff orchestrated from Minsk. Thousands of migrants were flown to Belarus and then pushed toward the Polish and Lithuanian borders.
Morawiecki said Poland responded by erecting a physical barrier. He described the measure as necessary to stop illegal crossings.
EU migration pact and Warsaw protests
The EU’s new Pact on Migration and Asylum is due to enter into force later this summer. It would encourage member states to accept up to 30,000 refugees annually, or to fund relocations.
Poland has rejected participation in the pact, citing the reception of Ukrainian refugees. Public protests against immigration took place in Warsaw on May 10, 2025.
International funding and political friction
Morawiecki criticized European institutions for pressuring national sovereignty. He accused Brussels of trying to force large-scale migration policies on member states.
The Biden administration’s USAID has provided funding to nongovernmental groups operating in Poland. Some of these groups advocate for migrant rights, he noted.
Calls for transatlantic unity
Both leaders urged conservatives and Republicans to coordinate globally. They argued Western democracies should reinforce cultural and economic ties.
Morawiecki said left-wing forces want to marginalize American influence in Europe. He called for stronger cooperation so democracies can shape global outcomes.
