Diamondbacks Promote Jose Fernandez for MLB Debut
The Arizona Diamondbacks recalled 22-year-old infielder Jose Fernandez to the active roster. He will make his major league debut when he appears in a game.

The move fills the roster spot vacated by Pavin Smith. Smith was placed on the 10-day injured list with left elbow inflammation, retroactive to March 29.
Fernandez’s promotion comes as the team manages depth across its infield. Arizona now has all healthy 40-man position players on the active roster.
