Jensen Ackles Confirms New Plans for Next ‘The Boys’ Series

In a wide-ranging interview with Filmogaz.com’s Steve Weintraub, Jensen Ackles and Laz Alonso previewed The Boys Season 5. They teased plot turns, character shifts, and a new spin-off set in the 1950s. Both actors promised a finale designed to deliver for longtime fans.

Season 5: stakes and tone

Season 5 arrives as the series finale. Creator and showrunner Eric Kripke will close the Supe satire at Homelander’s power peak.

The core group is fractured. Annie Starlight, played by Erin Moriarty, struggles to build resistance against Homelander. Billy Butcher, played by Karl Urban, carries a virus that could alter events dramatically.

Character developments

Laz Alonso says Mother’s Milk grows darker this season. He sees the world through Butcher’s eyes more often.

Alonso describes M.M. as more cynical and willing to take harsh measures. He suggests M.M. may become what he once opposed.

Ackles hinted at a violent clash born of generational trauma. He described a “daddy issues” showdown between Soldier Boy and Homelander.

Vought Rising: what to expect

Ackles confirmed new plans for a next ‘The Boys’ series, calling it a period murder mystery. The spin-off returns to Vought’s early days in the 1950s.

The project is intended as a multi-season series. Ackles said the pitch always included multiple seasons.

He described Soldier Boy as an “analog man in a digital world.” The prequel will place him at the height of his influence.

The show will peel back layers to explain how Soldier Boy became who he is. Aya Cash will join the series as Stormfront.

Behind the scenes and fan moments

Ackles kept his reading selective for Season 5. He read only his pages to preserve the viewing experience.

Alonso has seen just the first two episodes. He praised the opening as classic The Boys and compared the season to a speeding train.

Both actors also shared light personal moments. Ackles revealed he once asked a fellow actor to make a birthday video for his daughter.

Release details

The first two episodes of Season 5 premiere on April 8 on Prime Video. New episodes will arrive each Wednesday.

The Boys franchise has run from 2019 through 2026. The final season will conclude the main series while launching the Vought Rising prequel.
