UFL Team Appoints Former Panthers QB as Starting Quarterback

Orlando Storm has named Jack Plummer its starting quarterback for the 2026 UFL season, James Larsen of Filmogaz.com reports.

The move gives the 26-year-old passer a clear role to open the campaign.

The UFL team appoints a former Panthers QB to lead its offense. The decision draws attention to spring-league talent development.

Plummer’s background

Plummer spent 2024 and part of 2025 on the Carolina Panthers roster. He signed with Carolina following the 2024 NFL Draft. He was a third-team All-ACC selection at the University of Louisville.

Across six preseason games spanning two summers, Plummer completed 66 of 106 passes. He totaled 616 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions in those appearances.

Competition for the job

Plummer won the starting role over Dorian Thompson-Robinson. Thompson-Robinson is a former fifth-round NFL draft pick.

Former Panthers now in the UFL

Plummer is one of several ex-Panthers currently active in the UFL. Other former Carolina quarterbacks have continued their pro careers in the spring league.

  • Matt Corral — Birmingham Stallions
  • Bryce Perkins — Michigan Panthers
  • Jordan Ta’amu — DC Defenders

Season opener

Orlando opens its season this Sunday at 8:00 p.m. ET. The Storm will face the Columbus Aviators in the first game.
