Bearman Survives Grueling 50G Crash at Suzuka with Bruises

Ollie Bearman escaped serious injury after a roughly 50G impact at Suzuka while avoiding Franco Colapinto’s Alpine. The crash occurred on lap 22 of 53 at the Spoon Curve and forced a safety car.

Bearman survives the 50G crash and left the scene with bruises. Team doctors say the main issue is a contusion on his right knee.

Crash details

Bearman swerved to the outside to avoid Colapinto, ran across grass, and struck the outer barriers. Telemetry recorded an approximately 50G deceleration on impact.

The incident was the first significant interruption in an otherwise incident-free grand prix up to that point. Colapinto ran wide but emerged unhurt from the encounter.

Medical update

Bearman was seen limping immediately after the impact and was taken to the medical centre for evaluation. X-rays showed no fractures, and he remained alert and communicative.

Team medics described the right-knee contusion as bruising that will be monitored in the coming days. Further updates on his fitness are expected shortly.

Technical context and reaction

Haas principal Ayao Komatsu told Sky the closing speed between cars had been extreme. He said Bearman had very little time to react to the sudden differential.

McLaren sporting director Andrea Stella had previously warned about rapid closing speeds under the 2026 regulations. The Spoon Curves can be a zero-MGU-K zone, which increases potential speed differentials.

Stewards and aftermath

Race officials reviewed the footage and decided no further action was necessary. The stewards issued no penalties related to the incident.

The crash left Bearman with bruises but no fractures. Filmogaz.com will follow any developments regarding his recovery and return to action.
