20-Year-Old Dies After Tragic M1 Motorway Incident
Emergency services were called to the Pacific Motorway near Pimlico at about 5.50pm yesterday. The north-bound lanes were closed after a crash roughly 2km south of Pimlico Road.
A 20-year-old man died after being struck by a truck on the M1. NSW Ambulance paramedics treated him, but he could not be revived.
Police said the man had exited a vehicle stopped in the breakdown lane before allegedly entering the roadway. He has not yet been formally identified.
Police response and investigation
Officers from Richmond Police District established a crime scene and carried out a forensic examination. The north-bound lanes remained shut for several hours during the probe.
The truck driver, a 32-year-old man, was uninjured. He was taken to Ballina District Hospital for mandatory testing.
Next steps and appeals
Police will prepare a report for the Coroner as inquiries continue. Investigations into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing.
