James Marsden Misses Hugh Jackman on Avengers: Doomsday Set After Rivalry

James Marsden returns to the role of Scott Summers, also known as Cyclops, after a 12-year gap. His last appearance was a cameo in X-Men: Days of Future Past.

Return to the X-Men universe

The actor is confirmed to appear in Avengers: Doomsday this December. His comeback was teased earlier this year with on-set hints and a trailer.

Tye Sheridan previously took over the Summers role in later films. The new footage shows a distraught, screaming Cyclops.

What Marsden told Filmogaz.com

Marsden discussed the return during press for his Hulu film Mike & Nick & Nick & Alice. He spoke with Filmogaz.com about his decision to reprise the role.

He revealed he agreed to the project after a conversation about his involvement. Marsden had not yet read the script when he signed on.

On Wolverine and their rivalry

Marsden said he missed working opposite Hugh Jackman. He praised the brotherly, competitive chemistry between Cyclops and Wolverine.

He admitted he would have preferred to share scenes with Jackman again. When asked about Jackman’s return, Jackman did not rule it out.
