WrestleMania 42 Adds Major Unapproved Match and More
WrestleMania 42 received new matches after a tense night on SmackDown. WWE added a high-profile unsanctioned bout and changes to the title picture.

On SmackDown, Sami Zayn answered an open United States title challenge. He had been told there was no spot for him on the pay-per-view card.
Zayn defeated Carmelo Hayes to capture the United States Championship. Trick Williams provided unexpected assistance during the finish.

SmackDown authority Nick Aldis addressed the title situation after the match. He announced Zayn will defend the belt against Hollywood Trick at the Show of Shows.
The change puts Sami Zayn and Trick Williams on the WrestleMania 42 stage. Fans will see that matchup on April 18–19, 2026.
Unsanctioned showdown set
Drew McIntyre and Jacob Fatu continued their feud on SmackDown. The pair had brawled through the arena on the previous Blue Brand episode.
GM Nick Aldis stopped the fight before it escalated further. He then booked an Unsanctioned match at WrestleMania 42 to settle the score.
This decision effectively adds a major unapproved match to the WrestleMania lineup. The bout promises a no-holds-barred encounter in Paradise, Nevada.
