Julian Nagelsmann Unveils (Almost) Complete Germany Line-up vs Switzerland

Julian Nagelsmann has revealed an almost-complete Germany line-up for the friendly with Switzerland. Several last-minute withdrawals forced changes to the squad before kick-off.

Absences and late call-ups

Jamal Musiala will not feature for Germany. Aleksandar Pavlovic and Felix Nmecha also pulled out early.

Jamie Leweling and goalkeeper Jonas Urbig withdrew more recently. Nagelsmann summoned Angelo Stiller and Chris Führich as cover.

Augsburg keeper Finn Dahmen was added to replace Urbig. The coach had to reshuffle options across the squad.

Formation and tactical plan

Germany will line up in a 4-2-3-1 system. Nagelsmann has favoured that shape in recent matches.

The coach stressed the need for balance and defensive stability. Two holding midfielders will anchor the team.

Defence

Oliver Baumann will start in goal. Antonio Rüdiger returns to the squad but begins on the bench.

Joshua Kimmich is fixed at right-back. David Raum was preferred at left-back over Nathaniel Brown.

Jonathan Tah pairs with Nico Schlotterbeck in central defence. Nagelsmann sought a settled back four for the friendly.

Midfield

Leon Goretzka is certain to occupy one of the two holding roles. Angelo Stiller was brought in to cover Pavlovic’s absence.

Stiller joins the camp hoping to impress for World Cup consideration. The coach described him as a like-for-like option.

Attack

Serge Gnabry replaces Musiala in the attacking midfield line. Florian Wirtz will start in the central attacking slot.

Leroy Sané gets a starting berth on the wing following Leweling’s withdrawal. Kai Havertz returns as the centre-forward.

Nagelsmann chose Havertz over Deniz Undav for the number nine role. Young forward Nick Woltemade is considered for minutes.
