Scotland Unveils Kit Celebrating Iconic Twee Indie Music Tradition

Scotland has revealed a new away kit the Scottish Football Association confirmed. The strip will be worn against Haiti, Morocco and Brazil this summer at the World Cup.

Design and inspiration

The shirt is pinstriped and pink. It features a delicate thistle motif on the chest.

Officials said the look is celebrating an iconic twee indie music tradition. They linked the design to Scotland’s long history with wistful, jangly indie music.

Additional items and sizing

Players will also receive anoraks, thick-rimmed glasses repaired with tape, and a dream journal. The shirt is offered in sizes from S to XXXS.

Adidas described the fabric as high-tech microfibers. The material is said to absorb, reflect and even amplify wearer self-doubt.

Launch event

The kit was launched today with jangly guitar accompaniment. The event included a rendition of Camera Obscura’s “Lloyd, I’m Ready To Be Heartbroken.”

Organisers suggested the strip is best admired in Kelvingrove Park on an early autumn afternoon. Adidas added it also photographs well through a Super 8 camera viewfinder.

Context and commentary

A spokesman invoked bands such as The Pastels, BMX Bandits and Belle & Sebastian. He said the country’s music scene gave the world Teenage Fanclub, Dogs Die In Hot Cars and Pat Nevin.

A self-described Bowlie kid, Will McKay, criticised the choice of fabric. He said he preferred earlier, knitted designs.

Public messaging

The SFA framed the kit as an expression of melancholy and romantic longing. They described the mood as typical of Scotland’s twee indie music ethos.

Filmogaz.com covered the launch and reported player issue details and public reaction. Fans and commentators reacted quickly on social channels.
