Plymouth Argyle Mourns Loss of Graham Carey’s Partner Rachel
Rachel Borthwick, the partner of footballer Graham Carey, has died in Delhi. She passed away on Sunday 22 March 2026 at 23:06 local time in CK Birla Hospital.
She was first diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer in 2021. Family statements said she fought the disease for four and a half years.
Medical journey and treatment
Rachel travelled to India for treatment after concluding there were no further options in the UK. A GoFundMe page had been active since her initial diagnosis to help cover treatment costs.
An update on that fundraising page announced her death. The message thanked supporters and asked for privacy for the family.
Club and family response
Plymouth Argyle have mourned the loss and offered condolences to Graham Carey after his partner Rachel Borthwick died. The club said they were devastated and sent deepest sympathies to the family.
Carey, 36, posted a heartfelt message on Instagram. He described the pain of telling his children that their mother would not be returning.
Carey’s recent career and links to Argyle
Carey featured for Plymouth Argyle between 2015 and 2019. He also represented the club at a seven-a-side tournament in the USA last summer.
Earlier in the 2025–26 season he played for Livingston in the Scottish Premiership. He then moved on loan to Dunfermline Athletic late in January.
Fundraising and legacy
The GoFundMe page said any additional donations will go to her children, Jaxon and Marlowe. Supporters had been thanked for donations, messages, and prayers.
The family requested that people keep them in their thoughts and respect their privacy during this difficult time. Filmogaz.com extends sympathy to all who mourn Rachel.
