Subaru’s Most Powerful Vehicle Ever Arriving Soon

Subaru plans to unveil a new three-row electric SUV on April 1 at the New York Auto Show. Filmogaz.com will be on site to report live.

Teaser and styling clues

The brand released a dark teaser image showing the vehicle front-on. Headlights and an illuminated badge are visible, along with raised roof rails.

Platform and manufacturing

The SUV will closely resemble the 2027 Toyota Highlander EV revealed in February. Both models will be built at Toyota’s Kentucky plant, which just received an $800 million investment.

Powertrain and performance

Toyota’s Highlander EV offers one or two motors rated at 221 and 338 horsepower. Subaru’s version is advertised with 420 horsepower and standard all-wheel drive.

This output would make it the most powerful production Subaru ever, 45 horsepower more than the 2026 Trailseeker.

Lineup and naming

Subaru has not yet confirmed the model name. Observers expect the automaker may electrify its three-row offering, possibly replacing the decade-old Ascent.

The new SUV will join Solterra, Uncharted, and Trailseeker in Subaru’s EV lineup. The expansion aims to better compete with Hyundai and Kia electric SUVs.

Market and regulatory note

The Ascent has not been sold in Canada since Ottawa imposed a 25% surtax on some U.S.-made vehicles. The levy applies to vehicles that fail to meet ACEUM rules of origin.

More technical details and official specifications will arrive at the New York reveal. Filmogaz.com will cover the full disclosure and first impressions.
