Regé-Jean Page Rejects ‘Rom-Com Is Dead’ Notion for ‘You, Me & Tuscany’

Regé-Jean Page returns to romantic comedy with You, Me & Tuscany. He joins Halle Bailey in the lead role.

Page told Filmogaz.com he was drawn in part by the conversation that the rom-com genre is supposedly finished. He rejects the “rom-com is dead” notion and said love remains essential.

Storyline

The plot follows Anna, played by Halle Bailey. She impulsively flies to the Italian countryside and occupies a stranger’s villa.

When the homeowner’s mother discovers her, Anna claims to be the son’s fiancée. That lie grows complicated when she falls for Michael, the cousin played by Page.

On-location shoot in Italy

Filming took place in Rome with five to six weeks spent across Tuscany. The production captured vineyards and sun-drenched rural scenes.

Page recalled roaming wheat fields and enjoying local cuisine during the shoot. He praised working daily with Bailey and the relaxed atmosphere on set.

What drew Page to the film

Page described rom-coms as stories about aspiration and personal growth. He emphasized trust, conversation, and learning to solve problems together.

His recent resume includes Bridgerton, Black Bag, and The Gray Man. He said this project offered a chance to explore quieter, emotional stakes.

Production and release

The film is a Universal Pictures release in partnership with Will Packer Productions. Kat Coiro directed the movie.

Ryan Engle wrote the screenplay, based on an original idea by Ryan Engle and Kristin Engle. The film opens in theaters on April 10.
