Each sandwich was purchased exactly as it appears on the menu. No extras, no swaps and no secret hacks were allowed.
How the tasting was done
The team evaluated texture, flavor, portion size and bread quality. Tasters compared notes and ranked sandwiches from worst to best.

Top performers
Penn Station’s Philadelphia Cheesesteak earned the top spot. Judges highlighted gooey melted cheese, thin-shredded steak and vegetables that retained a crunch.
Quiznos and Jersey Mike’s finished near the top. Reviewers cited generous portions, bold sauces and well-toasted rolls.
Common flaws among lower-ranked sandwiches
