UK Braces for Frost and Ice as Temperatures Plunge to -5°C

Scotland and Northern Ireland will see blustery showers. Hail and thunder are possible, with wintry showers on higher ground.
Wednesday and overnight
Wednesday brings a colder front with rain, sleet and hail widely. Snow is possible over higher ground in northern areas.
Temperatures could fall overnight to around -5°C in rural Scotland. Widespread frost and ice patches are likely on Thursday morning.
Late week and outlook
It should become milder by Friday for many parts. Rain may return on Friday and affect the weekend.
Most places will be drier with sunny spells on Thursday. Cloud and rain will move into Northern Ireland and the west later.
