Lakers’ Jake LaRavia Eager to Play Full 82-Game Season

Jake LaRavia spoke with Filmogaz.com at Kaseya Center before the Lakers’ road win over Miami.

Jake LaRavia is eager to play a full 82-game season for the Lakers.

Recent milestones

His March 14 home win over the Nuggets marked his 67th game of the season.

That surpassed his previous career high of 66 games set in 2024-25.

He has appeared in every game of the Lakers’ six-game road trip.

He remains on pace to play all 82 regular-season games.

Injury history and motivation

LaRavia set the goal after missing time last season because of injuries.

He missed time following an injury in Sacramento and endured several early-career setbacks.

He played the first 33 games of 2024-25.

He logged 66 of 72 games before missing the final weeks with a broken left thumb.

Minutes, diet and training

Entering Saturday he had 1,732 minutes played.

That ranked 83rd in the league and was 383 more than last season.

He hired a chef before last season and follows a strict diet.

He also increased his weight-room work this year.

He says this is the most he has lifted in his career.

He credits diet and maintenance lifting for his improved availability.

Role and impact

The 24-year-old forward averages 8.6 points and 3.9 rebounds.

He also records 1.8 assists and 1.2 steals in 24.7 minutes per game.

His box-score numbers are modest.

But he brings disruptive defense, offensive rebounding and physical play.

League context

LaRavia is one of 19 players on pace to play all 82 games this season.

The list includes Desmond Bane, a former Grizzlies teammate.

Playing every game has become less common.

Eleven players did it last season, down from 17 in 2023-24.

A decade ago 18 players finished all 82 in 2015-16.

Thirty-two players did so in 2010-11.

When JJ Redick played every game, he was one of 39 to do so.

Voices in the locker room

Austin Reaves recalled his run through 2023-24.

He logged 83 games, including the NBA Cup final versus the Pacers in December 2023.

Reaves said the grind required mental toughness and good fortune.

Coach JJ Redick noted LaRavia set the goal early in the season.

Redick compared LaRavia’s fourth year to his own when he played every game.

Filmogaz.com will continue following LaRavia as he pursues his availability goal.
