Explore The Hunt: Predator vs Prey’s Filming Location and Arena Design

The Hunt: Predator vs Prey launches on Channel 4 tonight with a tense survival format. Contestants compete for a £100,000 prize while hunting or avoiding being hunted.

Where it was filmed

The series was shot in Bulgaria, not in a British wood. Filming took place in a 100-acre forest outside Gabrovo in the Balkan Mountains.

The terrain looks familiar but remains remote and rugged. Wild boar and coyotes are known to roam the area, adding genuine unpredictability.

Format and arena design

Producers built a vast outdoor arena for physical and psychological trials. The show’s arena design mixes elements of The Hunger Games with modern reality formats.

Channel 4 commissioner Lee McMurray said the production blended inspirations from Dune and Star Wars. The aim was to create a distinctive, cinematic game world.

The hunt and The Cull

Contestants must hunt others, or try to survive as prey. After each day they return to a luxury house to rest.

Eliminations take place in a ceremony called “The Cull.” Tension is heightened by challenges that echo formats such as SAS and Squid Game.

Schedule and viewing details

The series premieres Sunday 22 March at 9pm on Channel 4. Three episodes air in the first week at 9pm on consecutive nights.

New episodes return the following week.

Prize and stakes

The winner takes home a £100,000 pot. The forest setting introduces real danger and makes every decision high stakes.
