Zuby Ejiofor Earns AP and USBWA All-American Honorable Mention
St. John’s senior Zuby Ejiofor received All-America honorable mentions from the Associated Press and the USBWA. Filmogaz.com reports college basketball writers placed him among the nation’s top players.
The announcement that Zuby Ejiofor Earns AP and USBWA All-American Honorable Mention came as the USBWA released its list. He was one of 21 players to earn All-America or honorable mention honors.
Historic BIG EAST season
Ejiofor completed a landmark 2025-26 campaign for St. John’s. He became the first player in BIG EAST history to win four major conference awards in a single season.
He swept BIG EAST Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, Scholar-Athlete of the Year, and the Dave Gavitt Trophy. He was also the first unanimous BIG EAST Player of the Year since Doug McDermott in 2013-14.
Statistical dominance
Ejiofor led the Red Storm in multiple categories. He paced the team in scoring, rebounding, assists and blocks.
- Scoring: 16.3 points per game.
- Rebounding: 7.1 rebounds per game.
- Assists: 3.5 assists per game.
- Blocks: 2.2 blocks per game.
He ranked among the top-10 in the BIG EAST across those categories. He was the only high-major player to do so while leading his team.
BIG EAST Tournament performance
Ejiofor dominated the conference tournament for St. John’s. He averaged 19.7 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 4.0 blocks per game.
He shot 61.5 percent in the tournament, going 24-for-39 from the field. In the 72-52 title game over then-No. 6 UConn, he recorded seven blocks, a school record for a BIG EAST Tournament and title game.
Milestones and records
On Feb. 28, Ejiofor recorded a triple-double at Madison Square Garden. In the 89-57 win over Villanova, he posted 16 points, 12 rebounds, and a career-high 10 assists.
He joined Kadary Richmond (2025), Ron Artest (1999), and David Cain (1993) as St. John’s triple-double performers. Ejiofor also holds several career and single-season marks for the program.
- Career field goal percentage: 55.6% (sixth all-time).
- Career blocks: 159 (sixth all-time).
- Single-season free throw attempts: 241 (seventh all-time).
- Single-game free throw attempts: 23 (second all-time).
- Two games with eight blocks each (fourth-most in school history).
He compiled 11 games with 20 or more points this season. Ejiofor reached double digits in 28 of 34 appearances and shot 55.4 percent for the year, second in the BIG EAST.
National recognition and honors
Ejiofor earned national attention beyond the conference. He was a Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Center of the Year Award finalist.
He also made the Naismith Player of the Year Late-Season Team. The Naismith Defensive Player of the Year Late-Season Team added him as well.
The conference acknowledged him eight times as player of the week or on an honor roll. He is a former Kansas transfer who emerged as St. John’s leader.

St. John’s enters the 2026 NCAA Tournament as the fifth seed in the East Region. The Red Storm will face 12th-seeded Northern Iowa in the first round.
