First Single Drops from Chess Broadway Revival Cast Album

The first single from the forthcoming Broadway revival cast album of Chess is now available. Lea Michele performs the song “Nobody’s Side” on the release from Ghostlight Records. The track can be streamed through major platforms. A release date for the full album has not been announced.

Broadway run

Danny Strong provided a new book for the revival. Michael Mayer directed the production. Lorin Latarro handled choreography.

The creative design team includes David Rockwell, Tom Broecker, Kevin Adams, John Shivers, and Peter Nigrini. Johanna McKeon is associate director. Travis Waldschmidt is associate choreographer.

Cast and casting

Nicholas Christopher stars as Anatoly Sergievsky. Aaron Tveit plays Freddie Trumper. Lea Michele appears as Florence Vassey.

Story and presentation

Chess was conceived from an idea by Tim Rice. The original book included work by Richard Nelson.

The musical follows American and Russian chess champions. They face off on the board and vie for the same woman during the Cold War.

The Broadway revival is produced by Tom Hulce, Robert Ahrens, and The Shubert Organization. Creative Partners Productions is also among the producers. The production is presented by arrangement with Three Knights and Robert Fox Ltd.
