Appleton North and De Pere Boys Fall in Division 1 Semifinals
Both Appleton North and De Pere saw their state tournament runs end in Division 1 semifinal action Friday night in Madison. Each team fell short against tough opponents at the Kohl Center area.
Appleton North pushes reigning champion
Appleton North battled reigning champion Wisconsin Lutheran in a tight semifinal. The Lightning trailed by double digits at halftime.
They fought back and cut the deficit to two points late. Wisconsin Lutheran held on for a 68-61 victory.
Nathan Ramus scored 20 points, while sophomore Matthew Rosplochowski added 18. Players praised their team work and belief during the run.
De Pere Boys Fall in Division 1 Semifinals
De Pere faced Madison Memorial for the right to meet Wisconsin Lutheran in the final. Memorial reached the Kohl Center for the second time in four years.
Madison Memorial shot 70 percent from three-point range. Those threes accounted for 36 of their 75 points.
The Spartans led by one at halftime and extended the margin to 19 in the second half. Madison Memorial won 75-62.
Jack Bookter led De Pere with 18 points. The Redbirds’ season ended with the loss.
