Inter Miami CF Signs Alexander Shaw as New Homegrown Talent
Inter Miami CF has signed 17-year-old Alexander Shaw to a Homegrown Player contract. The club promoted him from its Academy and MLS NEXT Pro affiliate.
Contract details
The deal runs through the end of the 2026 Major League Soccer season. The contract includes options that could extend it through June 2027 and the 2027‑28 and 2028‑29 seasons.
Playing history and debuts
Preseason and Champions Tour
Shaw made his first appearances with the First Team during the 2026 Champions Tour. He featured off the bench against Alianza Lima and Barcelona SC, and started versus Independiente del Valle in Bayamón, Puerto Rico.
MLS debut
He made his MLS debut on March 14 as a second‑half substitute. That appearance occurred during a draw at Charlotte FC while Shaw was on a short‑term loan from Inter Miami II.
Development pathway
Shaw rose through the Inter Miami CF Academy before turning professional. He made his pro debut with Inter Miami II in July of last year.
In his first professional season, he logged 13 appearances and recorded two assists. Shaw becomes the 11th Academy graduate to reach the First Team.
