Alison Hammond Responds to BBC Celebrity Traitors Rumors on ITV This Morning
Alison Hammond has dismissed reports linking her to BBC’s Celebrity Traitors. The ITV This Morning presenter said scheduling makes the move impossible.
She made the comments during an appearance on The Jonathan Ross Show. Hammond explained her Bake Off commitments prevent her participation.
Why the rumours were denied
Producers had reportedly approached celebrities after the show’s success. Alison said she cannot join because Bake Off filming overlaps the same period.
The 51-year-old Brummie added she would prefer to play a faithful rather than a traitor. She said the stress of being a traitor would put her off.
The Traitors format and recent celebrity edition
The Traitors is presented by Claudia Winkleman. The format pits a majority of faithfuls against secret traitors intent on eliminating contestants.
The celebrity spin-off aired last autumn. The series featured Sir Stephen Fry, Jonathan Ross and Paloma Faith among the cast.
BBC figures showed the celebrity run averaged 14.9 million viewers. It became the biggest TV audience of 2025 during its broadcast.
How the game works
- Twenty-two contestants take part.
- Most are faithfuls, seeking to identify the traitors.
- Traitors secretly remove players at night to increase their prize chances.
Bake Off commitments and judging changes
Hammond will co-present The Great British Bake Off for Channel 4. Noel Fielding returns as co-host, with Paul Hollywood as judge.
Nigella Lawson will join the judging panel as Prue Leith’s replacement. Alison described Prue’s exit as bittersweet and celebrated her long service.
Prue announced her departure in January. She had been a judge since 2017 and said she wanted to “work less and play more.”
What Alison said about the new judge
Alison said she looks forward to meeting Nigella next week. She expects a friendly first meeting over coffee and a chat.
For viewers interested in the TV appearance, The Jonathan Ross Show airs Saturdays at 10pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
