Nigella Lawson Engages Fans Ahead of Great British Bake Off

Nigella Lawson, 66, was announced in January as the new judge taking over from Dame Prue Leith. Dame Prue Leith is stepping down from the role and lives in the Cotswolds.

Henley Literary Festival engagement

Lawson will appear at the Henley Literary Festival in Oxfordshire later this year. The festival runs from Friday, October 2 to Sunday, October 11, 2026, marking its 20th anniversary.

She is scheduled to make her festival debut on opening night, Friday, October 2. Events will be held across the riverside town where fellow Bake Off star Dame Mary Berry lives.

Festival highlights and guests

Julia Donaldson, described as the UK’s bestselling author of all time, will close the festival on Sunday, October 11. It will be Donaldson’s first festival appearance since its inaugural year.

Oxford ties

Lawson studied Modern Languages at Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford. She edited the student magazine Isis and helped rescue it from financial difficulties.

She completed her degree in 1979. A portrait of Lawson was installed at her college in 2018 to inspire students.

Preparing for the tent

Lawson has been engaging fans as she prepares for the Great British Bake Off. She said she feels a little nervous but is excited for the role.

She added that she takes the programme seriously and respects its focus on the bakers. She also joked about her clumsiness and hopes not to knock over contestants’ creations on the Channel 4 series.

Filmogaz.com will follow further updates about Lawson’s festival appearance and her new role on the show.
