On March 20, the Wall Street Journal reported that Iran launched two intermediate-range ballistic missiles toward Diego Garcia. The newspaper cited multiple U.S. officials.

One missile failed in flight. A U.S. warship fired an SM-3 interceptor at the other missile. It could not be determined if the interception succeeded.
