Eid al-Fitr 2026: Celebrations Illuminate East Berkshire

Muslim communities across Maidenhead, Slough and Windsor are preparing for Eid al-Fitr 2026. The festival marks the end of Ramadan and follows the sighting of a new crescent moon. Celebrations are expected to illuminate East Berkshire this week.

Maidenhead plans

Maidenhead Mosque will host an Eid prayer followed by a sermon. Attendees will be offered free refreshments and hot drinks.

Al-Tawheed Islamic Education Centre Maidenhead (TIECM) will hold an Eid in the Park at Kidwells Park. Entry opens at 8am and prayers begin at 9am, with guests asked to arrive by 8.15am.

The family-friendly park event will include free ice cream and bouncy castle slides. If rain forces a move indoors, the TIECM mosque on Cookham Road will host services instead.

In that contingency, organisers plan two indoor prayer sittings at 8.30am and 10am. Messages about venue changes will appear on TIECM’s social media channels.

Zia Mahiudin, a trustee at Maidenhead Mosque, highlighted the event’s community spirit. Irfan Rafiq, TIECM’s event director, said the occasion offers an opportunity for neighbours to learn and join in.

Slough prayers

Jamia Ghousia Masjid on Diamond Road will run four prayer sittings for Eid. Scheduled times are 8am, 9am, 10am and 10.45am.

The mosque expects families to attend for prayer and post-service socialising. Organisers emphasise a welcoming atmosphere for all visitors.

Windsor gatherings

The Windsor Muslim Association will stage its annual Eid in the Park at Dedworth Manor Park, Hanover Way. Prayers and a sermon start at 9am on Friday.

After the service, guests can enjoy food, ice cream and childrens’ activities. A police car display will be available for youngsters.

Royal Borough councillors, including mayor Cllr Mandy Brar, have been invited to the Windsor event. The association hopes the day strengthens local community ties.
