Swain claimed a spot on the 10-player first team. Vokietaitis earned a place on the 10-player second team.
District alignment and scope
The NABC now organizes Division I districts by state, not by conference. The Gulf District covers all Division I schools in Texas and Louisiana.
Swain’s breakout season
Swain, a junior guard/forward at Texas, earned SEC Newcomer of the Year honors. He also was a finalist for the Julius Erving Small Forward of the Year Award and made the All-SEC Second Team.
He started all 32 games and led Texas across five major categories through the first 32 contests. He averaged 17.8 points and 7.6 rebounds per game while logging 32.2 minutes per outing.
Swain totaled 108 assists (3.4 apg) and 55 steals (1.7 spg). He shot 55.1 percent from the field and 81.6 percent from the free throw line.
Per ESPN research through March 15, Swain was the only major-conference player leading his team in at least five statistical categories. He posted 29 games of double-digit scoring, 12 games of 20-plus points, and eight double-doubles.
In SEC play, he averaged 19.6 points, 7.9 rebounds and 3.3 assists in 34.2 minutes. He ranked among league leaders in scoring, rebounding, field goal percentage, steals and defensive rebounds.
He earned SEC Co-Player of the Week honors on Feb. 16. He also made the Southwest Maui Invitational All-Tournament Team.
