UNC Greensboro has named Jerod Haase as the new head coach of its men’s basketball program. He becomes the 12th head coach in UNCG history.

Stanford Tenure

UAB Success
Haase compiled an 80-53 overall record in four seasons at UAB. He posted a 42-26 mark in Conference USA play.
The Blazers won the 2014-15 CUSA Tournament and advanced to the NCAA Round of 32. That season included a win over No. 3–seeded Iowa State.
In 2015-16 UAB went 26-7, captured the CUSA regular-season title, and played in the NIT. Haase was named the 2016 Gene Bartow Conference USA Coach of the Year and the NABC All-District Coach.
His final season featured a 16-0 home record and extended a home winning streak to 25 games. UAB ranked nationally in field goal percentage (.478, 24th), assists per game (18.4, 4th) and blocks per game (6.1, 4th).
Early Career and Playing Background
Haase is a 1997 Kansas graduate with a business administration degree. He served as Kansas’ director of operations from 1999 to 2003.
He spent 13 years on Roy Williams’ staff at Kansas and North Carolina. During that span, the Jayhawks reached the 2002 Final Four and the 2003 national championship game.
College Playing Career
A native of South Lake Tahoe, California, Haase began his college career at California in 1992-93. He started 23 games as a freshman and played alongside Jason Kidd.
He transferred to Kansas and started 99 of 101 games there. Haase scored 1,264 career points, averaging 12.5 points per game and recording 74 games of double-figure scoring.
His Kansas teams won three consecutive conference titles. In 1996-97 Kansas went 34-2. Haase averaged 12.0 points per game that season despite playing with a broken wrist.
He earned multiple academic honors, including First-Team GTE Academic All-American as a senior. Haase completed a master’s degree in business at Kansas in 2000.
