Seat and Cupra Ateca Discontinued After Decade-Long Production

Seat and Cupra Ateca Discontinued After Decade-Long Production

Seat and Cupra have confirmed they will stop selling the Ateca SUV in the UK. The move ends the model’s decade-long production that began with its 2016 launch.

Model background

The Ateca entered Seat’s line-up in 2016 during the SUV boom. It was also among the first models produced after Cupra became a separate brand.

The range offered petrol and diesel engines. Buyers could opt for four-wheel drive on many versions.

Performance variants

Cupra-badged Ateca models delivered the sportiest options. The top trim used a turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol engine with all-wheel drive.

That configuration represented the peak of the Ateca’s performance credentials.

Official decision and timeline

Seat said the Ateca will no longer be configurable in selected markets from the start of 2026. The company framed the change as part of product portfolio management.

The decision reflects local market priorities and Seat’s broader range strategy.

Electrification roadmap

Seat outlined plans to electrify its lineup by 2028. Mild-hybrid versions of the Ibiza and Arona are due in 2028.

The Leon will gain a full-hybrid powertrain in 2028. Further updates to the Leon and Leon Sportstourer are planned for 2029.

Replacement and Cupra’s direction

The manufacturer did not confirm a direct replacement for the Ateca under either brand. Cupra is rolling out a series of new electric models.

The first of those is the Raval, scheduled to arrive this year.
