Recent history and fan reaction
Cycling has shifted streaming platforms three times in as many years. In late 2023, GCN+ closed after offering ad-free racing for £6.99 a month or £39.99 a year.
The sport then appeared on Discovery+ at £6.99 per month. In February 2025, rights moved from Eurosport to TNT Sports and the content went behind a £30.99 monthly paywall.
Tour de France and audience concerns
ITV gave up broadcast rights. This July will be the first time in decades the Tour de France is not on free-to-air UK television.
A Cycling Weekly survey found 71% of respondents watched the Tour on ITV. Of 1,273 people surveyed, 1,120 said they would not subscribe to TNT Sports for the 2026 race live. Nearly half reported they had never paid to watch cycling on TV.
