Commanders CB, Former First-Round Pick, Joins Super Bowl Champions
Commanders CB Noah Igbinoghene, a Former First-Round Pick, Joins Super Bowl Champions Seattle Seahawks. The signing was announced on social media Tuesday. The move ends his stint in Washington.
Career background
Igbinoghene was the 30th overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. Miami selected him in the first round. He has earned about $14.1 million in his career.
He has one career interception and none since 2022. The veteran played every regular-season game in 2024. He started a career-high 10 games that season.
2024 season and contracts
The Commanders finished 12-5 in 2024. They reached the NFC Championship Game for the first time since 1991. Igbinoghene played on a one-year, $1.266 million deal that year.
He signed a one-year, $1.5 million contract for 2025. Before the season, some analysts listed him as a potential trade asset. Washington used a draft pick to add another cornerback that offseason.
Washington’s recent cornerback moves
The team has taken a cornerback in each of the last three drafts. The 2023 first-round corner, Emmanuel Forbes, was released early in his second season. The 2024 second-round pick Mike Sainristil flashed as a rookie but regressed the following year.
In 2025 Washington used a second-round pick on Trey Amos. Amos slipped from a projected first-round slot after a pre-draft back issue emerged. Head coach Dan Quinn said the team was comfortable selecting him despite that concern.
Trey Amos injury
Amos suffered a fractured fibula on November 10 in a 44-22 loss to Detroit. He missed the final seven regular-season games. In limited action that season he recorded 17 solo tackles and six pass deflections.
At Ole Miss in 2024, Amos totaled 39 solo tackles, 13 pass deflections, and three interceptions. He earned All-SEC honors that year.
Other additions
The Commanders also signed Amik Robertson away from Detroit in free agency. Robertson agreed to a two-year, $16 million contract. That move added experienced depth to the secondary.
What this means
Seattle adds depth at cornerback by signing Igbinoghene. Washington’s cornerback room remains in flux after several recent moves. The roster will likely undergo more adjustments before the season.
