Nashville Woods Shooting Victim Identified
Metro Nashville police have opened a homicide probe after a man was found shot in a wooded area Tuesday evening. The body was discovered near Doverside Drive and Oakview Drive in Nashville.
Scene and initial findings
A passerby located the man in the woods and alerted authorities. Officers say the victim appeared to have died earlier in the week.
Homicide detectives responded to the scene. Investigators noted encampments are in the general area but not immediately next to where the body was found.
Victim identification
Police identified the man Wednesday evening as 27-year-old Trevett Cole Rash. He was a Nashville resident and had no identification on his person when found.
The department continues to work to determine the circumstances that led to the shooting. Detectives are canvassing the area and following leads.
