Lamar Odom’s Attorney Pleads Not Guilty in Las Vegas DUI Case

Lamar Odom’s attorney entered a not-guilty plea on his client’s behalf Tuesday. Odom was not present for the hearing.

Arrest and alleged conduct

He was arrested in January by the Nevada Highway Patrol on DUI and speeding charges. Authorities say he exceeded 110 mph on Interstate 15 south of Russell Road. Officers say he failed several field sobriety tests and smelled of marijuana.

Court appearance and defense

Defense lawyer Kevin Coburn entered the plea and declined further comment after court. Coburn said the case remains in preliminary stages and that the defense had just received discovery. His attorney pleads not guilty as lawyers review the evidence.

Rehab and prior incidents

Odom entered a rehabilitation program after the arrest, according to earlier reports. Coburn said Odom has successfully completed that program.

Past legal and medical history

He faced a prior DUI arrest in 2013. In 2015, he nearly died after a drug overdose at a Nye County brothel.

Career background and next steps

Odom played 14 NBA seasons for the Clippers, Lakers, Heat and Mavericks. He was a UNLV recruit in 1997.

A bench trial is scheduled for July 7. The Las Vegas DUI case will proceed on that date.
