Lori Ellen Nelson, a cherished member of the Sault Ste. Marie community, recently passed away on March 5, 2026, at the age of 68. She spent her final days surrounded by her loving family at the Sault Area Hospital.

Early Life and Education

Born on February 16, 1958, in Wawa, Ontario, Lori was the daughter of Bud and Isabel Nelson. She pursued her education at Confederation College in Thunder Bay. Throughout her life, Lori lived primarily in Sault Ste. Marie.

Family and Relationships

Lori is survived by her sister, Joni Nelson, and brother-in-law Tony DeAgazio. She was a beloved aunt to Ellen DeAgazio and Benjamin DeAgazio, as well as Josh and Nicole DeAgazio. Lori also held a special place in the hearts of her nieces and nephews, including those from extended family.

Final Arrangements

Cremation has taken place per Lori’s wishes. A Celebration of Life will be scheduled for a later date. She will be laid to rest alongside her parents at Woodland Cemetery in Wawa. The family extends heartfelt thanks to the nurses at SAH-ICU and Chartwell Collegiate Heights for their care and support during her illness.
