Public appeal for footage from 6: 30 pm to 8: 30 pm on March 5

Police are asking anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage of a black Surron bike being ridden in chesterfield between 6: 30 pm and 8: 30 pm on Thursday, March 5 (1: 30 pm to 3: 30 pm ET) to come forward. Officers supplied a reference number for evidence submissions and urged people with relevant footage to contact them by the contact methods they have provided. The appeal is part of a wider inquiry into the sequence of events that led to the collision.

A joint statement from the families, released by police, said: “There is a reason these bikes are banned from the road, and devastatingly Finley has paid the ultimate price in losing his life. His friend has sustained serious injuries and has to come to terms with growing up without his best mate. Although the thrill of riding an electric bike on the road seems exciting, it can also be fatal. That quick thrill, is not worth the risk. “

For now, Derbyshire Police continue to appeal for footage and information linked to the incident on Newbold Road. The investigation will proceed on the basis of enquiries and any material received from the public, and the next confirmed development is the ongoing public appeal by officers handling the case.
