Five Guys CEO Vows to Improve After BOGO Offer Misstep
After a chaotic first attempt, Five Guys is launching another buy one burger, get one free (BOGO) offer. The popular burger chain, based in Alexandria, Virginia, faced backlash last month when its initial offer led to extensive wait times for customers.
Five Guys’ CEO Acknowledges Past Mistakes
In a recent interview with WTOP, CEO Jerry Murrell admitted the company underestimated demand during its birthday celebration. “We screwed the first one up so bad, we’re trying to redo it,” Murrell confessed. As the initial offer coincided with the chain’s 40th anniversary, it resulted in customers waiting for nearly an hour and some stores running out of stock.
New BOGO Offer Details
The revamped BOGO promotion is scheduled from Monday to Thursday. Five Guys aims to rectify the issues experienced last time to ensure a smoother experience for its patrons. Murrell emphasized the importance of getting this right after the overwhelming reaction to the previous offer.
- New offer dates: Monday to Thursday
- Previous offer date: February 17 (chain’s 40th anniversary)
Employee Recognition and Bonuses
To appreciate their hard work during the busy promotion, Five Guys plans to allocate $1.5 million in bonuses for employees who managed the initial BOGO rush. With 1,500 locations across North America, this translates to approximately $1,000 in bonuses per store.
Murrell noted that despite the stress from the previous offer, employees handled the situation remarkably well. He expressed gratitude for their efforts, saying, “They came through pretty good, I think.” In light of last month’s challenges, he shared a light-hearted message with his team: “Don’t shoot me in the back for screwing this up.”
Future of Five Guys Promotions
As Five Guys moves forward, the company is focused on improving customer experiences and ensuring employee satisfaction. This new attempt at the BOGO offer is a clear indication of their commitment to learn from past mistakes and better serve their loyal customers.
