Nscale Secures Record $2 Billion in Europe’s Largest Series C Round
Nscale, a U.K.-based AI infrastructure hyperscaler, has successfully closed a record $2 billion Series C funding round. This funding round, announced on March 9, 2026, has earned Nscale a valuation of $14.6 billion.
Funding Round Details
The Series C funding was spearheaded by Aker ASA and 8090 Industries. Additional support came from major firms such as:

Josh Payne, CEO and Founder of Nscale, emphasized the critical role of accelerated AI infrastructure in shaping economies and industries. He forecasts that over the next five years, AI technologies will be integrated across numerous sectors. Nscale aims to lead this transformation.

New Board Members Strengthen Governance
Alongside the funding announcement, Nscale revealed the appointment of three influential figures to its Board of Directors:
- Sheryl Sandberg: Co-founder of Sandberg Bernthal Venture Partners and former COO of Meta, she brings extensive experience in scaling tech companies.
- Susan Decker: CEO and co-founder of Raftr, she previously served as President of Yahoo and holds positions on several corporate boards.
- Nick Clegg: General Partner at Hiro Capital and former UK Deputy Prime Minister, he specializes in global affairs and technology governance.
These appointments add valuable expertise in technology, policy, and operations to Nscale’s leadership.
Operational Enhancements in Norway
Nscale has also expanded its collaboration with Aker ASA by fully incorporating the Aker Nscale joint venture announced in July 2025. Aker will remain a significant shareholder, with CEO Øyvind Eriksen continuing on the Board.
