Hoda Kotb fills in as Savannah Guthrie plans ‘Today’ return

Viewers of hoda kotb on the morning show should expect the lineup to remain in flux, because Savannah Guthrie still has no set date to resume her on-air role even as she says she intends to return. Thursday at 12: 00 p. m. ET, Guthrie visited Studio 1A at Rockefeller Center to thank colleagues for supporting her family during the continuing search for her mother, Nancy Guthrie.

Hoda Kotb’s fill-in role continues with no return date set

For now, hoda kotb remains the person filling in as Guthrie stays off air following the disappearance of her mother, Nancy Guthrie. Guthrie told co-workers she has “every intention of coming back, ” but she also said there isn’t a timeframe for her return.

That leaves the show’s plans dependent on when Guthrie feels able to resume her job while the investigation continues. Guthrie has been on hiatus since her 84-year-old mother was reported missing on February 1, and she last appeared on the show on January 30, two days before her mother’s disappearance.

Still, Guthrie’s in-person visit signaled to staff that she is thinking about rejoining the program, even if the schedule remains open-ended. “I don’t know how to come back, but I don’t know how not to. You’re my family. And I would like to try, ” Guthrie told colleagues during the gathering.

Savannah Guthrie’s Studio 1A visit centers on support and a planned comeback

Guthrie’s return to the studio on Thursday (March 5) was her first time back since her mother disappeared on January 31 in what police believe was an abduction. During the emotional reunion, Guthrie expressed gratitude for the support shown to her family and told colleagues she was still holding onto hope and faith.

“I wanted you to know that I’m still standing, and I still have hope, and I’m still me, ” she said. She added that she did not know “what version” of herself she would be, but said, “it will be. ”

During the gathering, Today weather correspondent Dylan Dreyer led a group prayer, describing the team as “holding hands as a family. ” She asked for “the biggest miracles every day. ”

On the show’s fourth hour, Jenna Bush Hager described how Guthrie hugged “every single person” in the room, including the crew, and reiterated that Guthrie had said she intends to return. Bush Hager said she did not know when Guthrie would actually return, but emphasized that the studio is a place where Guthrie feels loved.

Sheinelle Jones said she was proud of Guthrie and pointed to the strength it took for her to come to the studio and be with colleagues.

Nancy Guthrie investigation remains unresolved as new details emerge

The uncertainty around Guthrie’s on-air timeline is tied to the continuing search for Nancy Guthrie, who has been missing since January 31. Authorities believe she was abducted from her home in Tucson, Arizona, and the Pima County Sheriff’s Office has said it believes she was “taken from the home against her will, ” including the possibility of kidnapping or abduction.

Investigators have released doorbell camera footage of a masked suspect and shared a description of a potential abductor, but no suspects or persons of interest have been publicly named. Authorities have also released images of a prime suspect captured on a doorbell camera.

The family has offered a $1 million reward for Nancy Guthrie’s return, and detectives have received close to 40, 000 tips from the public. DNA evidence recovered from a glove found not far from her home yielded no matches in an FBI database, authorities said.

Purported ransom notes demanding about $6 million in cryptocurrency have been sent to media outlets, including one with a deadline that expired on February 9. The case has drawn wide attention, but police have not made any arrests.

That said, Guthrie has publicly indicated both hope and the emotional toll of the search, and she has also withdrawn from Winter Olympic Games coverage as the search intensified. If investigators identify and announce a suspect, the show’s internal planning could shift quickly; until then, the program’s on-air lineup is likely to remain unsettled.
