Police Arrests Follow Violent Clashes During Protest Demonstration
Recently, six individuals were arrested in Bristol amidst violent clashes during a protest. The incident occurred as the police were managing a rally that involved both supporters and counter-protesters.

Clashes and Police Response
The demonstration led to confrontations as items were thrown at police officers. To maintain order, Avon and Somerset Police deployed more than 200 officers. They utilized batons and mounted units to separate the contending sides.

- A 37-year-old man for causing fear or provocation of violence under Section 4 of the Public Order Act 1986.
- A 60-year-old man for assault by beating and affray.
- A 39-year-old man for obstructing or resisting a constable during their duty.
- A 23-year-old man on suspicion of violent disorder.
- A 27-year-old woman for failing to provide details as requested and engaging in anti-social behavior under Section 50 of the Police Reform Act 2002.
- A 23-year-old woman for assaulting an emergency worker and obstructing a constable.
All suspects were subsequently taken into police custody for further investigations.
Police Statement
Inspector John Shaddick, overseeing neighborhood policing, stated that the protests were actively managed to ensure public safety. He emphasized the intent to facilitate peaceful demonstrations while maintaining order.
The police acknowledged that minor disruptions occurred but assured that they acted proportionately where necessary to manage the situation effectively. The arrested individuals are now subject to standard investigative procedures.
