Hadjar Hails Red Bull Debut as ‘Perfect Start’

Isack Hadjar celebrated a promising debut with Red Bull by achieving a P3 result during qualifying for the 2026 Australian Grand Prix. The French driver regarded this performance as the “perfect start” to his new chapter in Formula One, even while acknowledging the challenges faced during the session.

Qualifying Highlights

Hadjar’s qualifying session unfolded after teammate Max Verstappen encountered a crash in Q1. This incident left Hadjar as the only representative for Red Bull for the remainder of qualifying. Competing fiercely against the Mercedes drivers, Hadjar finished third, trailing George Russell and Kimi Antonelli.

  • Qualifying Result: P3
  • Teammate’s Incident: Max Verstappen crashed in Q1
  • Opponents: George Russell (P1), Kimi Antonelli (P2)

Reflecting on the Performance

Expressing his satisfaction, Hadjar remarked, “I’m very happy. When I crossed the line, I knew it was a good lap, maybe top three.” He appreciated the smoothness of the session that led to his podium position. However, he also emphasized that there is room for improvement in the car’s performance.

“That’s the thing, it never feels good enough,” Hadjar noted, acknowledging the car’s limitations. He mentioned, “We’re eight-tenths away from pole. Last year this would have been out of Q1.” His frank assessment indicates a desire to push the car’s potential further as the season progresses.

Looking Ahead

As the 21-year-old driver prepares for the race, he aims to build on his past success. Last year, he secured a podium finish at the Dutch Grand Prix and aspires to achieve a similar feat again. When asked about the prospects of challenging the Mercedes cars at the start of the race, Hadjar stated, “The only thing I can do is take a better start, but they’re just too fast at the moment.”

His focus remains on maintaining his position and striving for a second podium finish, reflecting his determination and growth as a driver in the competitive landscape of Formula One.
