Windsor High School placed on lockdown after threat reported

A reported threat prompted a lockdown Friday, March 6, at windsor high school, and deputies put the campus under control as investigators worked to determine details. Officials urged parents and community members to stay away from the area while law enforcement conducted the inquiry.

Emily Fuller, a spokesperson for the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office, said the threat was reported to police at about 11: 50 a. m. ET and that the campus was placed on lockdown while deputies investigated. Fuller said details about the nature of the threat were still limited as the investigation remained ongoing.

Administrators and deputies on site

Heather Bailey, a spokesperson for the Windsor Unified School District, said district administrators were on site alongside law enforcement during the lockdown. Bailey said that while the school was locked down, everyone was safe, and that additional information would be made available later.

Road closures and traffic control near campus

Road closures were established around the campus, including at the intersection of Windsor Road and Winemaker Way, where the southbound lane was shut down. The California Highway Patrol assisted with traffic control in the area as deputies conducted their response.

Police urged parents and other community members to remain away from the area while the investigation continued. Fuller reiterated that investigators had limited details at the time and asked the public to avoid the campus and surrounding roadways while deputies worked.

School they would share further updates when more information became available and that administrators were coordinating with law enforcement on campus operations and communications for parents and guardians.
