Heavy Snowfalls Blanket Azerbaijan, Reaching Up to 40 cm in Some Areas
Severe snowfalls have struck much of Azerbaijan, resulting in significant snow accumulation. Some regions have reported snow depth reaching nearly 40 centimeters.
Snow Accumulation Across Azerbaijan
According to the Operational Information Center, as of 10:00 on March 2, the highest snowfall was recorded in Shahbuz, where snow accumulated to 37 centimeters. Other areas also experienced substantial snowfall:
- Kisha: 33 centimeters
- Alibay: 25 centimeters
- Khinalyg and Gryz: 24 centimeters
Impact of Weather Conditions
The country is experiencing unstable weather conditions. On the same day, fog intensified in several regions, significantly reducing visibility on the roads to as low as 500 meters. Meteorologists indicate that such weather patterns are typical during the transitional period to early spring in Azerbaijan’s mountainous areas.
Drivers should exercise heightened caution due to the prevailing fog and increased humidity. These conditions can complicate transportation, especially in mountainous regions.
