Ike Barinholtz launches comedy-trivia podcast and reflects on Jeopardy wins and Catherine O’Hara’s loss
Ike Barinholtz will bring his trivia chops to a weekly comedy-trivia podcast, Funny You Ask, which will be available on all major podcast platforms beginning March 25; he says the show feels timely as "people question facts" in the current moment.
Ike Barinholtz launches comedy-trivia podcast
Barinholtz will host Funny You Ask, a weekly comedy-trivia show set to roll out on March 25, with a guest lineup that includes Mindy Kaling, Kate Hudson and Jimmy Kimmel. The premise pairs Barinholtz’s wide-ranging knowledge with tailored trivia battles: Kaling’s episode, for example, will feature questions limited to fashion, food and the 1980s Boston Celtics.
Celebrity Jeopardy! win and charity play
Known for winning Jeopardy! in both celebrity and non-celebrity versions, Barinholtz is also listed as a competitor on Celebrity Jeopardy! Season 4, playing for the Noonan Syndrome Foundation. His Jeopardy history is one concrete thread connecting his on-air trivia approach to the new podcast format.
From The Studio to an AI movie and grieving Catherine O’Hara
Barinholtz plays Sal Saperstein on the Emmy-winning series The Studio and has been filming the show’s second season; he had just accepted The Studio’s best comedy ensemble at the Actor Awards the evening before speaking about the podcast. He also discussed his role in Luca Guadagnino’s upcoming AI movie and addressed the devastating loss of his Studio co-star Catherine O’Hara.
On why he wanted to center humor around facts, Barinholtz said, "I’m not saying this to be soap-boxy, but we live in an era now where people question facts and have alternate versions of what is true. " The line of questioning and the tailored categories are meant to produce comedic riffs and knowledge-centered conversations.
Funny You Ask will debut March 25 on all major podcast platforms; episodes will pair Barinholtz with high-profile guests and custom trivia formats, and the show’s launch is the next confirmed event on his schedule.
