Sharon Osbourne outlines Ozzfest comeback with Ozzy Osbourne's blessing
Sharon Osbourne said ozzy osbourne gave his blessing for Ozzfest to continue and that the festival will return in 2027 in the Aston area of his hometown, Birmingham, England, before coming to the U. S.
Sharon outlined the plan during recent interviews and public appearances, saying the return will start with a hometown staging in Aston Villa. "We want to do two days in Aston Villa and then come to America, " she said, and added she hopes the festival will be back on the road as a full touring event by 2028.
Ozzy Osbourne's hometown dates planned for 2027
The revival is slated to begin in 2027 in the Aston area of Birmingham, the city where Ozzy grew up. Sharon pointed to a two-day start at Aston Villa and confirmed the next step is to "come to America, " asking fans where the U. S. editions should land.
From a 2018 finale to a staged return
Ozzfest last ran on New Year's Eve 2018 at the Forum in Los Angeles, a show that is noted as Ozzy's final full-length live performance before the 2025 Back to the Beginning concert in Birmingham. Sharon has repeatedly framed the 2027 revival as a continuation: she said there were "no plans to stop it" and that the festival was still intended to move forward before Ozzy's health prevented him from continuing.
Festival founder wants to broaden the bill
Sharon, who founded Ozzfest in the 1990s, said the festival originally focused on hard rock and metal while giving new acts a stage; she has suggested the comeback could include a wider range of genres. She also mentioned earlier conversations with promoters about the return and emphasized that the event was always meant to spotlight young talent.
Alongside the Ozzfest plans, Sharon teased a new statue of Ozzy that will debut on the grounds of Hellfest in France, a festival that previously unveiled a statue of Lemmy Kilmister. Sharon discussed that plan during a panel at the 2026 MIDEM conference in France.
Ozzy died on July 22, 2025. Sharon has used his blessing and their past discussions about the festival — including his question, "Do you think Ozzfest would work without me?" and her reply that the brand could continue — as the grounds for moving forward with the 2027 dates in Birmingham and subsequent U. S. events.
The next confirmed milestone is the planned 2027 return in the Aston area of Birmingham, with Sharon saying she wants two hometown days at Aston Villa before taking Ozzfest to American cities and aiming for a full touring schedule by 2028.
