Detroit Sportsnet unveiled as year-round broadcast home for Tigers, Red Wings
Ilitch Sports + Entertainment has launched detroit sportsnet as a year-round broadcast and streaming home for locally televised Detroit Tigers and Detroit Red Wings games, a move that shifts Tigers coverage to the new network this season and will bring Red Wings telecasts to the channel in the 2026-27 season.
Detroit Sportsnet headed to cable and streaming
Detroit SportsNet will be available through traditional cable and satellite packages across Michigan once distribution agreements are finalized, while local fans can immediately sign up for streaming subscriptions; the release said a list of providers and specific channel assignments will be shared after deals are complete. The Red Wings will remain on FanDuel Sports Network through the end of the 2025-26 season, and then transition to DSN for the 2026-27 season.
How fans can watch Tigers now and what the streaming plans include
Two in-market streaming plans are available. Fans who subscribe by March 22 can take advantage of a special introductory offer that allows them to stream Tigers games, including Opening Day in San Diego, at no cost through April 1. the annual plan can be combined with that promotion to provide access to the full 2026 Tigers season and a significant portion of the 2026-27 Red Wings season before the subscription renews on April 1, 2027.
Tigers games on Detroit SportsNet will stream through the MLB App, which is available across web, mobile and connected TV platforms, and the app will carry live games plus highlights, statistics and league-wide news. Details about how to use the subscription to watch 2026-27 Red Wings games are expected to be released this summer.
Broadcast teams and recent viewership that shaped the move
The Tigers arrive at the new broadcast home after a strong 2025 season: the team recorded a 121% increase in average per-game streamers and a 101% jump in per-game household impressions. Only five U. S. -based MLB teams posted higher per-game viewership totals last season, and just two teams finished with a higher average rating. The Tigers’ broadcast team, led by Jason Benetti and Dan Dickerson with analysts Andy Dirks and Dan Petry, will continue on the new network, and longtime Red Wings voices Ken Daniels and Mickey Redmond are expected to remain at the forefront of Wings coverage.
The channel is being positioned as a year-round home for local hockey and baseball; the company noted that, as is customary with new television channels, discussions with cable and satellite distributors are ongoing. For viewers who want to stick with current arrangements, no immediate changes are required to keep watching games while DSN completes its carriage deals.
Next on the calendar: Tigers games will stream on the MLB App this season with Opening Day in San Diego included in the promotional access, the streaming offer requires sign-up by March 22, and it will release more information about Red Wings viewing plans this summer once details are finalized.
