GymDogs Poised for National Championship Semifinal in Fort Worth

The Georgia gymnastics team travels to Fort Worth, Texas, for the NCAA National Championship Semifinal on Thursday, April 16. The session begins at 4:30 p.m. ET inside Dickies Arena. Georgia will compete in Session I with LSU, Florida and Stanford.

Semifinal format and broadcast

Session I features No. 2 LSU, No. 3 Florida, No. 6 Georgia and No. 7 Stanford. The top two teams from each semifinal advance to the final on Saturday, April 18.

Program history and milestones

This marks Georgia’s 36th appearance at the NCAA Championships and its first trip since 2019. The program owns ten national team titles, the most in NCAA history, with the most recent team crown in 2009.

Since the 1993 split into semifinals and finals, Georgia has reached the final round 20 times. Georgia gymnasts have collected 41 individual NCAA titles overall. The last individual national winners were Brandie Jay and Brittany Rogers in 2016.

Season resume and rankings

Georgia finished the regular season 19-7 overall and 5-3 in SEC play. The SEC record tied Georgia for third place in the conference standings.

The Bulldogs posted a 197.391 National Qualifying Score, ranking sixth nationally. Georgia ranked top 10 in all four events for the season.

Standout performances and accolades

Georgia hit a season-high 198.075 at Elevate the Stage on March 8. The team also defeated No. 2 LSU on Jan. 16. Georgia beat No. 4 Alabama on the road on March 13.

The GymDogs held No. 6 in the Week 12 Road to Nationals rankings for an eighth straight week. Event NQS positions were third on floor, fifth on vault, seventh on bars, and eighth on beam.

Individually, Lily Smith and CaMarah Williams ranked second on floor. Kelise Woolford ranked tenth on beam.

Awards, conference meet and All-America honors

At the SEC Championships on March 21, Georgia scored 197.450 at the BOK Center. The Bulldogs led the first session and finished fifth overall.

Autumn Reingold, Kelise Woolford and Nyla Aquino posted top marks in the session. Georgia’s 197.450 was the highest first-session score since the SEC adopted a two-session format.

Four GymDogs earned WCGA Regular Season All-America honors. Lily Smith and CaMarah Williams made First Team on floor. Kelise Woolford and Autumn Reingold earned Second Team honors.

Nine athletes received All-SEC honors. Reingold, CaMarah Williams and Woolford were named to the SEC All-Freshman Team.

Regional recap and current form

At the Tempe Regional, Georgia scored 197.125 in the second round to reach the Regional Final. It marked the program’s first Regional Final since 2019.

Nyla Aquino and Harley Tomlin shared the regional floor title with 9.950s. The team recorded a 49.625 on floor, the best regional floor mark since 1998.

In the Regional Final, the Bulldogs posted 197.750, their second-best team score of the season. Bars opened with a 49.525, paced by freshman Autumn Reingold’s 9.975.

Depth, freshmen impact and program records

Georgia reached 197.000 or higher in 14 meets this season. The program posted nine or more 197+ scores for the first time ever.

The five-member freshman class contributed heavily. Four freshmen competed in every meet. The class totaled 49 scores of 9.900 or better and 23 event wins.

CaMarah Williams led freshmen with 403.575 points. Kelise Woolford contributed 295.175 points. Georgia achieved its first 10-win season since 2019.
